New Evita production has more authentic feel
August 21, 2014 – The Des Moines Register
Because Eva Peron happens to lie in a fortified bunker 16-and-half feet underground, it's hard to ask her what she thinks of the Evita revival that opens tonight in Des Moines. But if we could, she'd probably say it feels real — maybe not historically accurate but certainly more authentic than the 1978 original. READ MORE

At the Civic Center this weekend, theatergoers can catch what sounds like Evita with an edge. READ MORE

The Evita National Tour: Inspiring in So Many Ways
January 21, 2014 – HuffingtonPost.com
If your family is like my family, you sort of pair off. A couple of you like football. A couple of you like Breaking Bad. A couple of you like broccoli. A couple of you like musical theater. Now, in my family, the musical theater divide is an impassable one. My younger daughter and I? We're passionate about it. My older daughter and my husband? They would rather be thrown into a pit of scorpions.
Theater Reviews: Evita
October 29, 2013 – FrontiersLA.com
I don’t have the best history with Andrew Lloyd Weber’s iconic musical about the controversial Eva Peron. I saw a bland touring company version in college that nearly put me to sleep, and the Madonna film version—while looking pretty—was also a bit of a snooze. So I wasn’t that excited to see the new incarnation that blew up on Broadway a few years ago and is now making its way around the country. I wasn’t convinced I was going to be won over without a known 'star' in any of the lead roles. I was a bit ho-hum about the whole affair, which was actually perfect, because it was such a wonderful surprise when I fell in love with this production.

Evita star gives new voice to Che
October 8, 2013 – BND.com
When charismatic Tony nominee Josh Young takes the stage in "Evita," do not expect Cuban activist revolutionary Che Guevera to show up. In the recent Broadway revival, which is based on the 2006 London West End production, the narrator role was re-interpreted as an Argentinian working class guy. That's the distinct characterization Young developed when he played the role at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 2010, and now again in the national tour.

Evita is the inspiration of lyricist Tim Rice and composer Andrew Lloyd Weber. It began as a rock opera concept album in 1976, opened as a musical at London’s West End in 1978, and premiered on Broadway in 1979 to rave reviews, earning 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the first British production to do so. Since then, this magnificent work has been performed on stages large and small around the world and it remains one of the most popular musicals of all time.
